AEL has had the honour of working with an array of brilliant eccentrics over the last four decades, three of which share February as their birth month. We’d like to take the opportunity to celebrate the art of these visionary Aquarians: Jack Shadbolt, Roy De Forest & Frederick J. Brown. And while these artists are no longer with us, they certainly continue to inspire a new generation of creatives...
IDIOSYNCRATIC & UNRESTRAINED: Artists Working Beyond the Confines
Jackson Pollock once said of modern art, "The strangeness will wear off and I think we will discover the deeper meanings...” Despite coming from different corners of the world and each with their own unique experiences, Shadbolt, Brown and De Forest shared in common a philosophy in the form of personal artist methodology: the uncontrollable urge to give in to whatever works, as strange or normal as it may be, at any given moment.
